Dental Care in Motion is owned and operated by Marisa Mannarino and James Fish. See their professional biographies below:

Marisa Mannarino

Marisa Mannarino, RRDH C. Marisa Mannarino is a registered restorative dental hygienist who is on a mission to take dental hygiene care beyond the dental office and into clients’ homes. She operates Dental Care In Motion, a Hamilton-based business that provides mobile dental care at client homes, offices, and public care facilities.

The business also specializes in dental care for special needs clients with sensory issues (autism, Asperger’s, etc.) and seniors and infirm patients.

Marisa started work as a dental assistant in 1980 as part of her studies in the dental assistant program at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton.

She graduated from that program in 1982 and later went on to obtain a diploma in dental hygiene from Algonquin College in Ottawa.

She studied restorative dental hygiene at George Brown College, Toronto, graduating in 2001.

In 2004, Marisa was part of a team that created the dental hygiene program at Southern Ontario Dental College (formerly the Ontario Dental Education Institute) and was an instructor for several years.

As a director at Global Smile International, Marisa led two missions, one to Haiti and one to the Philippines. The non-profit organization provides cleft care in underserved communities around the world.

Marisa also owns Well Honed, a company that sharpens and re-tips dental instruments.

James Fish

James Fish is a Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYCP) who has spent his life caring for and advocating for children.
He graduated from the Child and Youth Program (CYP) at Mohawk College in 2005.

Before that, he worked for many organizations, including:

  • Haldimand-Norfolk REACH for seven years, starting 1999 as an in-house respite worker.
  • He also has experience working full-time with a severely high-needs client in Simcoe for 3.5 years.
  • He worked at St. Leonard’s Community Services for 7 years as a Primary CYW worker, having spent time in all three children’s group homes and the Open Custody Facility.

    He currently works at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board in the Excellence for Social Learning (EXSL) for the last 12 years. The EXSL Program comprises of 5 Tier 3 classrooms for extreme high-needs students.

James also worked as a chef and has his Red Seal Chefs certificate.

He spent 12 years as a Scouts Canada leader for the 71st Hamilton Sea Scouts.

He has three children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

James is married to Marisa Mannarino.
